Mulheres do oriente : descobrindo o véu

Abstract

Esta monografia tem como objetivo central analisar o conteúdo do documentário “Mulheres do Oriente”, exibido na Globo News nos dias 23 e 30 de Junho de 2013. O propósito é responder à pergunta central “quem são estas mulheres?”. Para tal, foi preciso analisar cada uma das oito personagens isoladamente e também compará-las entre si, de modo a perceber diferenças e pontos em comum. A investigação empregou a técnica metodológica da análise de conteúdo que, neste caso, observou o texto da narrativa e as imagens. Os dois episódios, com tempo médio de 25 minutos cada, podendo ser mais, ou menos, foram analisados integralmente. Conforme este estudo, foi possível ver que em todas as histórias abordadas há uma latente diversidade entre as personagens e as imagens de Oriente Médio, entretanto, também há inúmeras características afins que ajudam a estabelecer vínculos entre estas mulheres. Entre os pontos a serem salientados, é possível destacar o protagonismo, o mote desta produção que tem o intuito de mostrar a história do Oriente Médio a partir do universo feminino.

The main focus of this paper is to analyze the analyze the content of the documentary “Mulheres do Oriente” (Women from the East) showed on the television channel Globo News on June 23 and June 30, 2013. The purpose here is to answer the central question “Who are these women?”. In order to do this, it was necessary to analyze each of the eight women separately, as well as comparing them with each other, so as to stress their differences and similarities. This method chosen for this research was that of content analysis, in this case directed to the narrative and the images. Both episodes, with an average duration of 25 minutes, were analyzed in their entirety. This study made possible to identify, in all the stories, considerable differences between the protagonists and the images of the Middle East. However, they also share several characteristics, which helps to create bonds between them. Finally, it is possible to highlight the prominent role of these women from the Middle East, as the program portrays the history of the region from a feminine perspective.
