Idosos com perda auditiva : restrição de participação e aquisição de próteses auditivas

Abstract

Objetivos: Verificar a restrição de participação provocada pela perda auditiva em idosos, antigos e novos usuários de próteses auditivas. Métodos: Foram avaliados idosos de ambos os gêneros, com idades entre 61 e 89 anos que compareceram para avaliação audiológica e seleção de prótese auditiva. Os sujeitos foram submetidos à anamnese, audiometria tonal liminar e o instrumento para avaliação da restrição de participação Hearing Handicap inventory for Elderly. Resultados: Foram avaliados 50 sujeitos, de 61 a 89 anos de idade, sendo 22 (44%) do gênero masculino e 28 (56%) do gênero feminino. 20(40%) eram usuários de próteses auditivas. Noventa por cento dos indivíduos apresentou restrição a participação social. A maior parte de sujeitos que adquiriu aparelho de amplificação sonora foram os que procuraram avaliação por vontade própria (40%). Houve uma diferença estatisticamente significante entre novos usuários e usuários antigos, quanto à faixa etária. Conclusão:

Objectives : Identify the predictive factors of the protection in the individuals how are audible impared. Analying the auditive and demographic profile of individual who opting for fitting. Methods: 50 patients eldery people from both sexes, were evaluation and selection of audible prothese, being this participants from the metropolitan region and countryside of Rio Grande do Sul. The following criteria: Were followed: Patients who would presente unilateral or bilateral audible hability loss with sings of protetization be over 60 years old; Accept to take place in research signing and being aware of the free-obligation agreement term. Participed in all avaliation proposed for the research. The following evaliations were applied: audiometry and self Instrument application - HHIE - S . Results: 90 % of individuos showed social participation restrition. The majority of participants who acquired the sound amplifind device were the ones who sought evaluation by themselves (40%). There was a significant difference between new users and old users, the old ones presented a higher age. With regards to other reserches variable statistically significant associations did not result evident. Conclusion : The statistics data were not able to identify an statistically significant difference in the variable; However the majority of people who sought treatment followed by protetization , were them by self iniciative. The later present significant perception of social participate restriction and were accountable for buying 80% of the sound amplification device.
