dc.description.abstractThis theoretical-practical essay aims to present the case of a School of Administration that maintains Distance Education programs in an important Brazilian public University by reporting its experience from 2003 to 2009. Distance Education was developed by a Virtual Learning Group which created a distance learning virtual environment to be used in all the University. Thus, Distance Education is analyzed as an educational and organizational strategy from different perspectives: strategic, structural, human, technological, cultural and political ones. This brings new challenges and possibilities to the institution, especially regarding external focus and internal structure, thus caring deeply with the creation and evaluation of strategies in an emergent way of learning: Distance Education.en
