This study aims evaluate the deposit of third-body (also known as film) in automotive disc brake system during braking. Therefore, was developed a methodology able to quantify the deposit of the third-body with micrography along the disc's radius and its evolution in tests with several parameters. These tests were realized in the tribometer of the Laboratory of Tribology of UFRGS, using two different types of pads. Three methods were used to evaluate the film deposit: Visual method, mean and standard deviation of intensity and analysis by software. The three methods were effective for this assessment of film, showing similar results. It was found that NAO pads formed heterogeneous film along the disc’s radius, while SM pads show the opposite, with an uniform distribution. The increase in normal force led to an increase in the film deposit for the NAO pads tests, and the opposite occurred in the SM pads tests. There was a moderate correlation between the radial temperature distribution, obtained by thermography, and the radial distribution of the film on the disk.en
