This paper aims to identify the meanings produced about the foreign identities by the Crônicas do Jornal Hoje. For this, were selected six stories of six different capitals between 2010, the year it was created in the program, by 2015. The chronic is understood as a space which the reporter has freedom of writing and he can extricate himself from the shackles the hard news to write an informative text, but more fluid and subjective. About the identity, they can not be seen as pristine (Hall, 2011), it means, the individuals have their identity‟s peculiarities, but these differences coexist with other ways of life. The journalism, to get encompass this complex reality, must learn to go beyond of the typifications (Berger & Luckmann, 2008) and practice otherness (Dionízio, 2010), accepting cultural differences and not impose on another a behavior pattern filtered through the experiences who reports the reality. The french line of discourse analysis was the methodology adopted to assist in mapping the three identified discursive formations: the exotic, the great and the enchantment. It was noted that the construction of stories is entered into the "I", it means, the identity, subjectivity and reporter experiences. Regardless of the year in which it was produced, the city and the journalist responsible for the article, typifications on the identity of the other tend to repeat the senses built on common sense.en
