Mulheres atletas da potencialização muscular e a construção de arquiteturas corporais no fisiculturismo

Abstract

A vertente feminina do fisiculturismo despontou nos anos 1980. Desde aquela época, vem se constituindo, afirmando e atualizando a produção dessa modalidade, que se multiplica e se reinventa para manter-se viva e pulsante no campo esportivo. Instrumentalizada pelos Estudos Feministas, Estudos de Gênero e Estudos Culturais, interessou-me analisar discursos produzidos no interior do fisiculturismo acerca da produção dos corpos das atletas, atentando para as representações construídas sobre suas arquiteturas corporais. A fim de concretizar esta investigação, produzi fontes de pesquisa na forma de textos e imagens colhidos em diferentes artefatos culturais, analisando-os inspirada na perspectiva proposta pela análise de discurso foucaultiana. Assim, aponto no passado e no presente as condições de emergência do músculo espetáculo, assinalando a posição de sujeito ocupada pelas mulheres nesse cenário. Analiso discursos que produziram conexões entre a matematização do músculo e os ajustes produzidos entre os corpos femininos e o campo esportivo, apontando as diferentes arquiteturas corporais buscadas nessas disputas, nas quatro modalidades que compõem o fisiculturismo feminino, a saber: physique/culturismo, figure/body fitness, fitness/miss fitness, toned figure/wellness. Destaco os modos como as atletas gerenciam o seu cotidiano para marcar nos seus corpos as exigências desse esporte, descrevendo as formas de exibir os corpos femininos nas competições. Por fim, examino o forte investimento que as atletas fazem para representar em seus corpos uma dada feminilidade e indico que seus corpos produzem feminilidades no plural. Produzir essa escultura de enunciados e organizá-los de modo a fazer sentido e ter certa coerência foi para mim o grande desafio desta tese.

Bodybuilding emerged in the 80's, and since then the production of this modality has been constituted, affirmed, and updated. It has both multiplied and reinvented itself to keep alive and pulsing in the sports field. Using tools from Feminist Studies, Gender Studies and Cultural Studies, I have been interested in analyzing discourses produced in bodybuilding about the production of bodies of female athletes, regarding the representations constructed about their body architectures. In order to do so, I have produced research sources in the form of texts and images collected from different cultural artifacts, analyzing them according to the Foucauldian discourse analysis. I have pointed out, both in the past and in the present, the conditions of emergence of "show" muscles, highlighting the subject position occupied by women in this scenery. I have analyzed discourses that have produced connections between the measurement of muscles and the adjustments produced between female bodies and the sports field, pointing out different body architectures desired in those competitions, in four modalities: physique, figure/body fitness, fitness/miss fitness, and toned figure/wellness. I have also highlighted the way the athletes manage their daily lives to signal in their bodies the sport requirements, describing the ways female bodies are shown in the competitions. I have examined the great investments made by athletes to represent certain femininity in their bodies, and I have pointed out that these bodies produce multiple femininities. Producing this sculpture of utterances and organizing them so that they can make sense and have certain coherence has been the great challenge of this thesis.
