Saberes e fazeres em construção : etnografia sobre formação profissional e mobilização estudantil no contexto da Reforma Psiquiátrica no Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

A recente emergência de movimentos sociais no campo da saúde, no Brasil, remonta a meados da década de 1970. Articulados às lutas pela abertura democrática no país, o Movimento Sanitário e a Luta Antimanicomial realizaram uma leitura "política" do fenômeno da saúde, e da saúde mental em específico. Assim, tendo em mente esse pano de fundo, o presente trabalho tem como foco compreender as relações que se tecem entre o processo de tornar-se profissional de saúde e engajar-se politicamente no contexto da Reforma Psiquiátrica e da construção do Sistema Único de Saúde, no estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Para tanto, realizo uma investigação etnográfica junto a um grupo de estudantes universitários de diferentes cursos de graduação que organizam um "estágio de vivência". Tal estágio consiste em uma "imersão" de quinze dias em serviços de saúde mental substitutivos ao hospital psiquiátrico, tendo por objetivo sensibilizar os estudantes para a defesa da Luta Antimanicomial e do Sistema Único de Saúde. Nesta etnografia, tenho por objetivo, portanto, compreender de que modo se relacionam a construção de entendimentos sobre saúde/saúde mental e a constituição de um envolvimento político com um movimento social da saúde.

The recent emergence of social movements among health field, in Brazil, retraces to the middle 1970's. Together with the struggle for democratic government, the Sanitarian and the Anti-asylum Movements carried out a "political reading" of health and mental health phenomena. Thus, considering this background, the present work aims to understand the relations between the process of becoming a health professional and the development of a political engagement in the context of Psychiatric Reform and of the construction of Single Health System, in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. For this, I carry out an ethnographic investigation among a group of college students who organize an "estágio de vivência" [training course on mental health care]. Such event consists of a fifteen-day "merge" in mental health services, which are substitutes for psychiatric hospital, having as its aim the students' sensitization for the defense of Anti-asylum struggle and Single Health System. Is this ethnography, therefore, I aim to perceive in which way the construction of understandings about health/mental health and the development of a political involvement with a health social movement are related.
