A recepção do jornal Correio do Povo ao Movimento Queremista, no ano de 1945

Abstract

Este trabalho tem por objetivo analisar a forma com que o jornal Correio do Povo, de Porto Alegre, deu cobertura ao Movimento Queremista, ocorrido em 1945, final do Estado Novo e do Governo Vargas. Partindo da analise desta fonte jornalística, com apoio da historiografia pertinente a este período, serão buscados indícios de como o Correio do Povo posicionou-se em relação às manifestações de rua e de que maneira deu cobertura aos eventos populares que pediam a permanência de Vargas no poder. A pesquisa feita visou reconstituir como Getúlio Vargas construiu os elos políticos que o levaram ao poder, assim como compreender a relação de reciprocidade construída entre ele e o povo. A partir da proposta ideológica do Correio do Povo, de ser um jornal informativo, neutro e noticioso, procuraremos, também, analisar a forma com que Getúlio Vargas foi representado neste veículo e como o jornal, e a imprensa do centro do país, qualificava os “queremistas”.

This paper aims at analyzing the way Correio do Povo, a newspaper from Porto Alegre, covered the Queremista Movement, event which took place in 1945 and marked the end of the Estado Novo and the Vargas Government. Based on the analysis of this journalistic source, and with the support of the historiography pertinent to this period, indications will be sought of how Correio do Povo positioned itself in relation to street demonstrations and how it covered the popular events that asked Vargas to remain in the power. This research aimed at reconstructing how Getulio Vargas built the political links that brought him to power, as well as understanding the reciprocity relationship built between him and the people. Based on the ideological proposal of Correio do Povo, to deliver an informative and unbiased journalism, we will also try to analyze the way in which Getúlio Vargas was represented at that time and how the newspapers, and the press from the capital of the country, quantified the "queremistas".
