Even-Zohar suggests the existence of a literary polysystem arising from the interrelation between primary and secondary systems which would act synergistically. The present article comments some of the aspects brought up by the critic, trying to clarify them through the use of examples not only from the possible interrelation between diverse means of artistic expression, but also from influences that externa! factors may bring to the arts. Making use of a comparison with Antonio Candido's notion do the literary system, the article discusses the positive points raised by Zohar as well as its shortcomings.en
