Serviço de referência virtual: análise dos recursos tecnológicos disponíveis para implantação em bibliotecas

Abstract

Oferece uma revisão da literatura científica acerca do Serviço de Referência Virtual (SRV), considerando seu histórico, evolução e importância no fazer biblioteconômico. Trata-se de um trabalho de caráter bibliográfico, que busca investigar e discutir a produção acadêmica e científica sobre o tema. Identifica e caracteriza os recursos tecnológicos disponíveis, analisando vantagens e desvantagens das principais ferramentas utilizadas para a prestação de SRV em unidades de informação. Aborda o SRV Cooperativo, caracterizando o serviço e destacando algumas práticas e experiências disseminadas na literatura da área de Ciência da Informação. Apresenta análise e observações registradas por pesquisadores sobre o impacto causado pela inserção das Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (TICs) na prestação dos serviços de referência das bibliotecas. Inclui diretrizes básicas para o planejamento e a implantação de SRV.

Offers a scientific literature revision about the Virtual Reference Service (VRS), considering his historic, evolution and importance in the daily practice of the librarian. This document has a bibliographic character, which search to investigate and discuss the academic and scientific production about the theme. Identify and characterize the available technological sources, analyzing the advantages and the disadvantage of the principal utilized tools for the VRS lending in information units. Boards the cooperative VRS, characterizing the service and emphasizing some practices and experiences disseminated in the literature area of Information Science. Present the analysis and observations registered for researchers about the caused impact by the introduction of the Information and communication technologies (ICT) in the reference services of the libraries. Includes basically guidelines for the planning and the implementation of VRS.
