Violação política e representação da desordem em Macbeth, de William Shakespeare

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como objetivo investigar o tema da violação política em Macbeth (c. 1606), de William Shakespeare (1564-1616). Através da análise bibliográfica e de documentos de época, pretende-se compreender de maneira fundamentada a relação entre as representações da desordem social e cósmica e a violação política sob o ato do regicídio. Para isso, a pesquisa é amparada em observações preliminares sobre a crônica de Raphael Holinshed (c. 1525-1580) sobre o reinado de Macbeth e a Homily on Obedience (1547), exortação da Igreja da Inglaterra sobre o tema da obediência às autoridades civis. A pesquisa com tais documentos possibilitou, respectivamente, reflexões sobre a reconfiguração da narrativa histórica ao drama trágico e sobre a relação da obra de Shakespeare com noções constituídas acerca do corpo político. A análise da peça gerou ponderações sobre a composição da imagem do tirano e sobre a natureza política das representações que tratam do desencadeamento do mal na tragédia.

This work aims to investigate the political violation in Macbeth (c. 1606), by William Shakespeare (1564-1616). Through bibliographic and documental analysis, it is intended to understand the relationship between the representations of social and cosmic disorder and the political violation under the act of regicide. To this end, the analysis of the play is preceded by observations on Raphael Holinshed’s (c. 1525-1580) account on Macbeth and the Homily on Obedience (1547), an exhortation by the Church of England about obedience to civil authorities. The research with these documents enabled reflect clearly on the conversion of the historical narrative into tragic drama and on the relation of Shakespeare's work with notions on the political body. The analysis of the play generated considerations about the composition of the tyrant's image and about the political nature of the representations that deal with the unleashing evil in the tragedy.
