The present work discuss Carlo Ginzburg’s historical thought. Although, since 1960, the italian historian marks his territory within the historiographical debate with innumerous innovative books, my investigation concerns only the writings post 1991. The main problem of this research is to analyse how Ginzburg’s historical thought is developed through the concept of proof, which permits him to affirm a form of history and to stand against other forms. My specific objective is therefore to trail the notion of proof, which are two: the first is based on the analogy between the judge and the historian; the second is draw by an interpretation of Aristotle’s Rhetoric. My general aim is to examinate the modification that Ginzburg’s contributions operate within the modern concept of history, exposed by Reinhart Koselleck and Hannah Arendt. I also emphasize Ginzburg’s claim for the history sui generis scientificity as well as his opposition to the so-called “skeptical post-modernists”, enemies of this scientificity.en
