As religiões afro-brasileiras do Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

Este texto versa sobre as religiões afro-brasileiras cultuadas no Rio Grande do Sul, a saber: o Batuque, a Umbanda e a Linha Cruzada. Após apresentar os números disponíveis sobre essas religiões, discorre separadamente sobre as principais características de cada uma delas, inscrevendo-as na própria história do Rio Grande do Sul. Enfim, são apresentadas algumas pistas explicativas do "sucesso relativo" dessas religiões neste Estado, se comparado ao que se passa no resto do país.

This text analyzes the afro-brazilian religions worshiped in Rio Grande do Sul, namely: Batuque, Umbanda and Linha Cruzada. After presenting the available data about those religions, the text points out the mains characteristics of each one, inscribing them in the history of Rio Grande do Sul. Finally, it shows some clarifying hints about the "relative success" of these religions in this State, if compared to the rest of the country.
