Miguel Rio Branco: tempo, arte e documento

Abstract

O artigo tem como foco a trajetória fotográfica e artística de Miguel Rio Branco (nasceu em Las Palmas, nas ilhas Canárias, em 1946). O livro Silent Book (1997), um livro sem palavras, foi eleito para se pensar acerca das relações que Miguel Rio Branco estabelece em seu trabalho entre o tempo, o documento e o universo da arte. Imagens barrocas com foco no lixo, prostíbulos e academias de boxe decadentes esgarçam o tecido do documento fotográfico, refletem sobre o tempo e adentram o universo da arte. Rouillé (2009), Dubois (1998) e Sousa (2004) darão suporte a esta reflexão. Finalizando, julga-se encontrar nessas imagens e em seus encadeamentos a explicitação do conceito de imagem cristal (Deleuze, 2005; Fatorelli, 2003). This article focuses on Miguel Rio Branco’s (born in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, 1946) photographic and artistic path. The Silent Book (1997), a wordless book, was chosen to think about the relations that Miguel Rio Branco establishes in his work between time, document and the artistic universe. Baroque images that focus on garbage, brothels and decadent boxing gyms fray the photographic document tissue, reflect time and enter the artistic universe. Rouillé (2009), Dubois (1998) and Sousa (2004) will support this reflection To finish, it is hoped to find in these images and its catenation, an explanation of the crystal image concept (Deleuze, 2005; Farorelli, 2003).
