“Os pequenos começam também de olhar com mais carinho pra isso” : butiá e sistemas alimentares sustentáveis na Região Fronteira Noroeste do Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

Considerando que o extrativismo sustentável das frutas nativas, entre elas o butiá, contribui para a valorização de práticas e saberes tradicionais e o seu reconhecimento frente à sociedade; que pesquisas revelam que o butiá é um alimento saudável, com valor nutricional comprovado; e que a atividade do extrativismo sustentável do butiá representa uma alternativa econômica para a Agricultura Familiar, esse trabalho buscou responder o seguinte problema de pesquisa: como o ambiente organizacional contribui para o fortalecimento dos sistemas alimentares sustentáveis envolvendo o butiá na Região Fronteira Noroeste do RS? Sendo o extrativismo sustentável do butiá uma atividade que vem sendo exercida de forma legal através do Certificado de Produtor Florestal ou a Certificação de Extrativismo Sustentável emitida pelo órgão público ambiental através do Sistema Online de Licenciamento Ambiental, buscou-se através de uma pesquisa qualitativa de caráter exploratório, refletir sobre as contribuições da Associação Regional de Educação, Desenvolvimento e Pesquisa (AREDE) na questão do extrativismo sustentável do butiá em sua área de abrangência que envolve a Região Fronteira Noroeste do RS. Desta forma foi constatado que o extrativismo sustentável do butiá é uma atividade que tem despertado o interesse da Agricultura Familiar da Região Fronteira Noroeste do RS, e que neste sentido, é de suma importância a atuação da AREDE. Por meio da pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, constatou-se que a AREDE congrega em torno do extrativismo sustentável do butiá: famílias agricultoras extrativistas; organizações sociais como a CETAP através da CSFN; educandários; e entidades como a EMBRAPA Clima Temperado e a SEMA. Foi possível identificar por meio da pesquisa de campo, que existe uma estreita ligação entre o trabalho desenvolvido pela AREDE e a geração de renda agrícola através do extrativismo sustentável do butiá, pois as famílias que, de alguma forma, foram assistidas pela instituição têm conhecimento sobre a legalidade da atividade e desta forma agregam valor comercial ao produto, ao contrário, as famílias que não conhecem a AREDE não consideram esta possibilidade. Além disso, os processos de certificação ambiental e agroflorestal fortalecem tanto os sistemas alimentares sustentáveis, como o protagonismo das mulheres em todos os seus elos (ecossistemas; manejo/processamento; abastecimento; dietas; consumo e a utilização biológica). Por fim, a pesquisa evidenciou que o movimento em torno do butiá vem promovendo a sucessão familiar nas UPAs que representam os primeiros elos desses sistemas alimentares.

Considering that the sustainable extraction of native fruits, among them the butiá, contributes to the appreciation of traditional practices and knowledge and their recognition in society; that research reveals that butiá is a healthy food, with proven nutritional value; and that the activity of sustainable extractivism of butiá represents an economic alternative for family farming, this work sought to answer the following research problem: how does the organizational environment contribute to the strengthening of sustainable food systems involving butiá in the Northwest Frontier Region of RS? Since the sustainable extractivism of butiá is an activity that has been legally carried out through the Forest Producer Certificate or the Sustainable Extractivism Certification issued by the environmental public agency through the Online Environmental Licensing System, it was sought through a qualitative research of character exploratory, to reflect on the contributions of the Regional Association of Education, Development and Research (AREDE) on the issue of sustainable extractivism of butiá in its coverage area that involves the Northwest Frontier Region of RS. Therefore, bibliographic, documentary and field research were carried out. In the latter, the following techniques were applied: observation, use of notebooks and semi-structured interviews. In this way, it was found that the sustainable extractivism of butiá is an activity that has aroused the interest of Family Agriculture in the Northwest Frontier Region of RS, and that, in this sense, the performance of AREDE is of paramount importance. Through bibliographic and documentary research, it was found that AREDE gathers around the sustainable extractivism of butiá: extractive farming families; social organizations such as CETAP through CSFN; schools; and entities such as EMBRAPA Clima Temperado and SEMA. It was possible to identify, through field research, that there is a close link between the work developed by AREDE and the generation of agricultural income through the sustainable extractivism of butiá, because the families that, in some way, were assisted by the institution have knowledge about the legality of the activity and thus add commercial value to the product, on the contrary, families who do not know AREDE do not consider this possibility. In addition, environmental and agroforestry certification processes strengthen both sustainable food systems and the role of women in all their links (ecosystems; management/processing; supply; diets; consumption and biological use). Finally, the research showed that the movement around the butiá has been promoting family succession in the UPAs that represent the first links of these food systems.
