Representações da guerra fria na história em quadrinhos : Batman, o cavaleiro das trevas

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como objetivo as formas de representação da Guerra Fria durante a década de 1980 na história em quadrinhos Batman – O Cavaleiro das Trevas, produzida pelo desenhista e roteirista estadunidense Frank Miller em 1986. para isso, esse trabalho foi dividido em três capítulos. No primeiro, recupero a trajetória das histórias em quadrinhos nos Estados Unidos desde o final do século XIX, com especial ênfase nas histórias de super-heróis das décadas de 1930 e 1940, na criação e desenvolvimento do personagem Batman – sua origem, parceiros, inimigos e a relação entre ele e o personagem Superman. No segundo capítulo, tento recuperar o surgimento de outros personagens e a forma como estes estão relacionados ao contexto da Guerra Fria das décadas de 1950, 1960, 1970 e 1980, assim como busco resgatar a trajetória de Frank Miller, sua produção e, em especial, sua abordagem particular ao vigilante. Finalmente, no terceiro capítulo, tento realizar uma análise da representação da Guerra Fria em Batman – O Cavaleiro das Trevas a partir da relação entre Estados Unidos e União Soviética, dos efeitos da guerra nuclear entre as duas potências, da comunicação em massa e do confronto entre Batman e Superman.

This paper aims to forms of representation of the Cold War during the 1980s in the comic book Batman - The Dark Knight Returns, produced by american designer and writer Frank Miller in 1986. For this, this study was divided into three chapters. At first, I reconstruct the history of comics in the U.S. since the late nineteenth century, with special emphasis on the stories of superheroes from the 1930s and 1940s, the creation and development of the Batman character - its origin, partners, enemies and the relationship between him and the character Superman. In the second chapter, I try to recover the appearance of other characters and how they are related to the Cold War context of the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, as I outline the history of Frank Miller, its production and, in particular, their particular approach to the guard. Finally, the third chapter, I try to perform an analysis of representation of the Cold War in Batman - The Dark Knight Returns from the relationship between the United States and the Soviet Union, the effects of nuclear war between the two powers of mass communication and confrontation between Batman and Superman.
