O pensamento utópico e a produção do espaço social : a cooperativa de consumo dos empregados da viação férrea do Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

Esta tese tem como objetivo geral identificar relações entre pensamento utópico e a produção do espaço social e como objetivo específico investigar a existência destas relações no processo de instituição de uma associação, a Cooperativa de Consumo dos Empregados da Viação Férrea do Rio Grande do Sul – CCEVFRGS. O desenvolvimento deste trabalho considera que pensamentos utópicos se encontram potencialmente na origem de certas concepções sociais as quais, para se efetivarem, se apóiam em processos funcionais que necessitam de estruturas sócio-espaciais para seu exercício. Considera também que o espaço social construído a partir de um pensamento utópico, além de ser um reflexo material de uma aspiração social, também tem a potencialidade de representar contradições daquela sociedade. O trabalho conclui que as contradições verificadas em certos espaços idealizados indicam que o moto que os gerou – o pensamento utópico – se fragmenta em imaginários de um passado e não de um futuro ideal presentificado como faria supor a reificação de um projeto utópico. Disto depreendeu-se que, ao não se realizar, o pensamento utópico por si só não é paradoxal, pois sua ocorrência situa-se no campo imaginário onde surge e se desenvolve como resposta às demandas existenciais das sociedades sempre na lógica interna da sua impossibilidade e que, por outro lado, as estruturas sócio-espaciais dele decorrentes, ocorrem no campo da materialidade, portanto, dentro de outra lógica. Conclui-se também que investigações sobre ocorrência de pensamentos utópicos devem considerar, além das expressões materiais e funcionais dos fatos sociais analisados, as suas representações as quais têm a potencialidade de exprimir as subjetividades dos pensamentos. As análises demonstraram a ocorrência de traços de pensamentos utópicos não só no discurso dos agentes da CCEVFRGS como também nos discursos de representantes de setores sociais impactados pelas forças materiais e simbólicas geradas durante seu processo histórico de implantação. Por outro lado, a instituição imaginária da CCEVFRGS não prefigurou uma utopia, mas continha, além de pensamentos pragmáticos, componentes utópicos que resultaram na produção de espaços sociais os quais ainda se identificam com a história da sociedade onde se realizaram.

This thesis has as general objective to identify relations between utopian thought and the social space production and, as specific objective, to investigate the existence of these relations in the process of establishment of an institution, the Cooperativa de Consumo dos Empregados da Viação Férrea do Rio Grande do Sul – CCEVFRGS. The development of this work considers that utopian thoughts potentially come from the origin of certain social conceptions, which rely on functional processes that need social-spatial structures in order to effectuate their exercises. In addition, the present work takes into account that the social space built from a utopian thought, beyond be a material reflex of a social aspiration, has the potentiality to represent the contradictions of those society. The work concludes that the contradictions verified in certain idealized spaces indicate that the moto that generate then – the utopian thought – is fragmented into imaginary figures of a past and not of an ideal future madepresent as would suggest the reification of an utopian project. From that, it was concluded that, when it does not realize, the utopian thought by its own is not paradoxical, because its occurrence is localized in the imaginary field where it raises and develops as a response for the existential demands of societies, obeying the internal logic of its impossibility. On the other hand, the socialspatial structures that come from the utopian thought are realized in the material field, within a different logic. Also, it is concluded that investigations about the occurrence of utopian thoughts must consider, beyond material and functional expressions of the social facts analyzed, its representations, which have the potentiality to express the subjectivities of thoughts. Analyses demonstrate the occurrence of traits of utopian thoughts not only in the discourse of the CCEVFRGS agents but also in the discourses of the representatives of social sectors who were affected by material and symbolic forces generated along the historical process of the establishment of those institution.On the other hand, the CCEVFRGS imaginary institution did not prefigure a utopia, but it comprises, beyond pragmatic thoughts, utopian components that result in the production of social spaces which are still identified with the history of the society where they were realized.
