Terminologia da subárea de representação temática : uma análise em corpus textual

Abstract

Estudo da terminologia empregada na subárea de Representação Temática mediante a coleta de termos em corpus textual. Tem como pressuposto a existência de variações terminológicas empregadas na referida subárea. Conta com o aporte teórico da Teoria Comunicativa da Terminologia (TCT). A metodologia para execução do estudo constitui-se das seguintes etapas: seleção dos artigos referentes à Representação Temática que compuseram o corpus textual da pesquisa; coleta dos termos empregados em Representação Temática; identificação de variantes terminológicas; análise dos dados obtidos. A análise dos dados permitiu a classificação dos termos e variantes terminológicas em categorias específicas. Os resultados obtidos apontam que algumas dessas variações podem interferir na compreensão da terminologia empregada na subárea bem como a representação e recuperação da informação. Ressalta a importância do uso de vocabulário controlado e remissivas para o processo de representação e recuperação da informação. Sugere a elaboração de glossários de termos empregados em Representação Temática.

A study of the terminology used in the field of Thematic Representation, through the collection of terms in a textual corpus. It is based on the presupposition that there are terminological variations employed in this field. The Communicative Theory of Terminology (TCT) grounds it. The methodology used for this study has been constituted by the following steps: selection of the articles referring to Thematic Representation that have made up the textual corpus of the research; collection of the terms used in Thematic Representation; identification of terminological variants; analysis of the data obtained. Data analysis has permitted the classification of the terms and terminological variants in specific categories. The results obtained signal that some of these variants may interfere in the understanding of the terminology used in this field as well as the information representation and retrieval. It emphasizes the importance of using controlled vocabulary and remissives in the process of information representation and retrieval. It suggests making up glossaries of the terms used in Thematic Representation.
