This coursework deals with a reflection on issues that cut across formal education and non-formal education on the teaching of arts. It starts focusing on the importance of dialogue on both, through a brief history on art education, and begins to address the formal and non formal educational contexts to approach changes in classrooms in close contact to contemporary art. This study points out the changes occurred through emerging cultural institutions, focusing on Fundação Vera Chaves Barcellos, contextualizing it in the text through an analysis that places it side by side to Museu Lasar Sergall and to Fundação Iberê Camargo, drawing a comparison chart between the Educational Project of the three institutions, that have similarities, although with times of separate existence. It ends with a study on the implementation of Fundação Vera Chaves Barcellos Educational Project, emphasizing the importance of the project to the local community, emphasizing some proposals for educational activities that may contribute to the expansion and development of the continuity of the Institution’s Educational Project. Presenting the ideas of Miriam Celeste Martins and Gisa Picosque to articulate the formal and the non-formal teaching, besides the thought of Alice Benvenuti related to the non-formal teaching and the thought of Ana Mae Barbosa related to the formal teaching through the triangular methodology, on the development of the text are emphasized the changes that bring together art and culture, without forgetting the importance of the political definitions on Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais in which educational institutions are approximated to cultural institutions and generate positive changes to the continuing education of art teachers, leading them to be approximated to art and to contemporary thought.en
