Dança de rua : a dança que surgiu nas ruas e conquistou os palcos

Abstract

A Dança de Rua é uma das modalidades de dança mais representativas em eventos, competições e espetáculos de dança. Sendo assim, o presente estudo tem como objetivo mostrar como a Dança de Rua surgiu e evoluiu em um contexto geral e como conquistou os palcos no Brasil, tornando-se uma das danças mais praticadas hoje. Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva de caráter investigativo de natureza qualitativa. As entrevistas foram realizadas com quatro coreógrafos que atuam na área há mais de cinco anos: Carlos Neto, Carlos Nunes, Evandir Ferraz (Mike) e William Freitas. A Dança de Rua não surgiu isolada, ela passou a existir juntamente com outros elementos da cultura hip hop, o rap, o MC e o graffiti. Podemos identificar alguns de seus precursores, como o DJ Afrika Bambaataa, o DJ Kool Herc, e os cantores James Brown e Michael Jackson. É uma modalidade de dança que evoluiu muito desde suas primeiras manifestações, principalmente devido às mudanças que aconteciam com as músicas utilizadas para dançá-la. A partir disso, surgiram os estilos/modalidades de Dança de Rua, como locking, popping, house e freestyle, entre outros. A modalidade Dança de Rua surgiu, no Brasil, no Festival de Dança de Joinville em meados dos anos 90, permanecendo até hoje no cenário artístico.

The Street Dance is one of the most representative forms of dance on events, competitions and dance shows, therefore this study aims to show how the Street Dance emerged and evolved into a general context and how it conquered the stage dance in Brazil, becoming one of the most practiced dances now. It is a descriptive research of investigative character, and it is of qualitative nature. The interviews were conducted with four choreographers who work in the area for over five years: Carlos Neto, Carlos Nunes, Evandir Ferraz (Mike) and William Freitas. The Street Dance does not emerged by itself, it emerged with others elements of the Hip Hop culture, the rap, the MC and the graffiti. We can identify some of its precursors as DJ Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Kool Herc, and singers as James Brown and Michael Jackson. It is a form of dance that has evolved from its earliest manifestations, mainly due to the changes that happened with the music used to dance it, some styles/forms of Street Dance emerged form this as locking, popping, house, freestyle. The Street Dance mode appears in the “Festival de Dança de Joinville” in the mid-nineties and remains in the art scene today.
