In this thesis we conducted a study of case within the scope of chemistry teacher formation. Our main purpose is to diagnose the adjustment of the Licentiate Degree Course in Chemistry at UFRGS (CLQ) to the National Curricular Guidelines (DCN) and the theoretical contributions from research in the area faced with the curricular reformulation that occurred in 2005. Within this scope, we considered the core question for our investigation the following: What forms of contribution from the current institutional, curricular and methodological organization of the CLQ to the professional development of future chemistry teachers? In order to reach our objectives, we sought to break down how the educational system in question establishes itself in the shape of a Licentiate Degree Course in Chemistry, and how such system effectively reaches the classroom and the first class of undergraduates who attended curriculum analyzed, both in terms of planning and in concrete actions. Lastly, we performed a systematic analysis by triangulating data from documental analysis of the current legislation that regulates Higher Education and the Pedagogical Project of the CLQ with assessments collected from the text productions by the undergraduates and the questionnaires applied to undergraduates and professors at the CLQ on the didactic procedures used in Specific, Articulating and Pedagogical subjects that comprise the curricular organization that has been in force since 2005. In a second instance, we produced a specific study about the forms of contribution of the formation practices experienced in the Supervised Traineeships to the professional development process of the undergraduates. For that purpose, we followed up and recorded audios of the classes attended by the undergraduates during both semesters of 2009 seeking to analyze how the teachers that formed the internship carried out the activities in the face of the concerns and conflicts reported by the undergraduates in relation to their experiences in teaching chemistry. In addition, we sought to identify the epistemological conceptions and didactic models adopted by two undergraduates in their academic productions and the teaching practices employed in Elementary Education Schools during the Supervised Internships. From that analysis, we also aimed to verify the formative model experienced and the epistemological conceptions of the undergraduates in their teaching practices. In the face of the broad research subject, we sought to dialog with theoretical sources from several fields of investigation pursuing their integration. We have founded our analyses on theoretical contributions by Goodson (1997), Popkewitz (1994, 1995), Imbernón (2009), Nóvoa (1995, 2008), Villega-Reimers (2003), Carvalho & Gil-Pérez (2006), Echeverria (2010), Maldaner (2002), Schnetzler (2002, 2010), Zanon (2003), Kagan (1992), Beach & Pearson (1998), Fuller (1969), Harres (1999), Tardif (2000, 2007), Porlán & Rivero (1998), etc. From the results of this investigation, we found that the principles of the curricular reform guided by the DCN have been partly met. Among the points that were met, we point out the considerable number of hours driven to the distinct curricular components, the inclusion of the Course Final Paper and the presence of Articulating subjects that moderate the theory and practice dichotomy. However, in the current curricular organization the subjects on specific knowledge of chemistry do not include the principles of development of competences, of inverted symmetry and research on teacher routines in the school environment as essential elements in the formation of undergraduates In the face of such context, even with the CLQ having its own identity by presenting a set of formative activities that would contribute significantly to the development of the knowledge needed for chemistry teacher formation, we found that the shy adjustment to the didactic procedures adopted in the CLQ to the DCN determinations. We have established such criticism mainly because the practical dimension does not permeate the distinct subjects that comprise the curriculum, only the Articulating and Pedagogical ones through theoretical studies about the school environment, or isolated observations in Elementary Education classrooms. Furthermore, the experience of the teacher role in the school environment only occurs in the Supervised Internships that are offered at the end of the Course. Nevertheless, we found that even in the face of some inadequacy of the CLQ to the DCN, the majority of undergraduates we followed up evolved in their professional development process with the support of activities that provided opportunities for a systematic reflection between the teaching and learning theories, the set of epistemological conceptions and the conflicts and concerns found during the periods of class management.en
