A paternidade em Dom Casmurro : ocultamentos e revelações

Abstract

Levantamento de alguns pressupostos que levam a efetuar uma análise do romance sob a perspectiva da paternidade, considerando-a como uma narrativa calcada no problema de poder e autoridade do pai, que se perdiam com o aumento da inclusão das mulheres nos papéis sociais, no período final da monarquia no país. Análise do conflito entre masculino e feminino, para além da questão de gênero, abordando o conflito que se instaurou no país entre Segundo Reinado e República. Leitura do romance a partir de uma interlocução entre Literatura e História, no contexto em que o romance foi produzido - de transição do regime monarquista para o regime republicano. Análise de Dom Casmurro, partindo do pressuposto de que o ponto de vista integra a proposta social e material da narração ao método estético da narrativa. Leitura da paternidade em três níveis: a paternidade biológica – o enunciado, a paternidade textual – a enunciação e a paternidade histórica – o diálogo entre o texto e seu contexto histórico.

The raising of some assumptions which lead to a reading of the book which highlights the concept of fatherhood as a narrative centered on the question of the father’s authority and power, which became less strong as woman’s inclusion in social roles started to take place, in the country, by the end of the Monarchy. The conflict between male and female is not only a gender issue, but it also represents the tension established in the country between the Second Period of Monarchy and the Republic. Hence, the accounting of the historical context of transition from the Monarchy to the Republican regime within which the novel was produced and the narrative as an interlocution between literature and history. Assuming that poin of view constitutes the material and social principle of narration and the narrative aesthetic method, the investigation of the concept of fatherhood in three levels: biological paternity – utterance, and textual paternity – enunciation and historical paternity – the dialogue between text and its historical context.
