As aulas de Educação Física no Colégio Nossa Senhora Aparecida de Nova Prata/RS (1937-1949)

Abstract

O Colégio Nossa Senhora Aparecida, do município de Nova Prata/RS, foi fundado em 24 de fevereiro de 1937, pela iniciativa do Padre Luiz Mascarello e de um grupo de senhoras. O presente estudo tem por objetivo descrever como se sucederam as aulas de Educação Física no Colégio Nossa Senhora Aparecida, desde sua instalação em 1937 pela Congregação do Imaculado Coração de Maria, até 1949, quando ocorreu a solenidade de formatura da primeira turma do curso Ginasial. As questões que nortearam a pesquisa foram: a) Quem eram os professores de Educação Física; b) Quais os conteúdos desenvolvidos nas aulas de Educação Física; c) Que procedimentos didático-pedagógicos eram aplicados pelos professores nas aulas. Para responder tais questionamentos foi utilizado o referencial teórico-metodológico da História Cultural e da Historia Oral, assentando-se na análise de fontes documentais, orais e iconográficas. As fontes revelaram que a presença do Colégio no município de Nova Prata teve especial relevância por ser a primeira instituição de ensino a oferecer o curso primário e a funcionar em regime de internato. Na época da fundação do Colégio, em 1937, a Educação Física brasileira sofria forte influência do militarismo; as décadas seguintes foram marcadas pelo movimento esportivo. Investigar as aulas de Educação Física em uma instituição educacional permitiu-nos penetrar em um universo de valores católicos e cívicos. Esta investigação se justifica por ser uma forma de registro histórico que busca contribuir com a preservação da memória do processo de escolarização da Educação Física no RS.

The school Nossa Senhora Aparecida, located in Nova Prata/RS, was founded on February 24, in 1937, by the initiative of Father Luiz Mascarello and a group of ladies. The objective of this study is to describe how were the Physical Education classes at school Nossa Senhora Aparecida, since its installation in 1937 by the Congregation of Imaculado Coração de Maria, until 1949, when the first group of junior high school graduated. The questions that guided this research were: a) Who were the teachers of Physical Education; b) What contents were developed in Physical Education classes; c) What didactic and pedagogic procedures were applied by teachers in the classes. To answer these questions, the theoretical and methodological referential of Cultural History and Oral History was used, relying on the analysis of documentary, oral and iconographic sources. The sources indicated that the presence of the school in the city of Nova Prata had a special importance because it was the first institution to offer the elementary school and to work with boarding school. When the school was founded, in 1937, Brazilian Physical Education was strongly influenced by militarism; the following decades were marked by the sporting movement. Investigating the classes of Physical Education in an educational institution allowed us to interact with a universe of catholic and civic values. This investigation is justified by being a form of history register that looks for contributing to preserve the memory of schooling process of Physical Education in RS.
