dc.description.abstract"The Seafarer" and "The Wanderer" are two of the most important texts produced during the Anglo-Saxon period of English literature ,between the 5th and 11th centuries AD. Written in the extinct Anglo-Saxon language and somewhat distant from us in time and space, these works are still able to reach and move the modern reader. The two poems, usually defined as Elegies, tell us of the trajectories of men at sea, who meditate on the situation of their existence inland. Our objective is to put these two poems side by side, considering them in the light of the theme of pilgrimage, which is central to the creation of both. To this end, we seek to situate them within the tradition in which they were produced, putting them in dialogue with this same tradition and their historical context. As we do that, we follow the lessons of Claudio Guillen, Álvaro Manuel Machado and Daniel Henri Pageaux about how to develop the study of a given theme.en
