Every year, students from faculty of Dentistry at Ribeirão Preto participate in the internship program at the Xingu Indigenous Park (Huka-Katu project). They develop oral heath treatment outside the dental clinc of the university, in accordance to the primary health care assistance model pattern. We aim to achieve the Social Representation of the dentistry student´s participation on the Huka-Katu indigenous project, by means of a qualitative methodological approach. Data were collect by means of semi-structured on-line interviews by Skype Software, which were digitally recorded and transcript. Data were systematized by means of Collective Subject Discourse technic and analysed by means of the Social Representation Theory. We identified two social representations: The dentist listening to the user of the health system, within a comprehensive care, make sense to their lives leading to oral health care. Understanding the person/community ‘behind the mouth’ is critical to the development of technical skills for professional autonomy in different realities. We considered that an extramural experience in an indigenous primitive community is represented, by the students-who-graduated-from-dentistry common sense, as an opportunity to develop their competences and abilities, be acquainted with community heal concepts and develop a holist view to the health system user.en
