A literatura santomense e a resistência feminina por Alda Espírito Santo e Conceição Lima

Abstract

Esta dissertação tem como objetivo analisar a resistência feminina a partir da produção poética de Alda Espírito Santo, poetisa do arquipélago africano de São Tomé e Príncipe. Para tal, traz a contextualização histórica e a análise de poemas selecionados da obra É Nosso o Solo Sagrado da Terra – poesia de Protesto e Luta, onde a poetisa pontua as questões históricas de seu povo, despertando-o à necessidade do livramento do jugo colonial. Ou seja, a representação feminina usada por Alda Espírito Santo em seu sujeito poético, traz como característica a resistência e a convocação do povo africano. Também é estudado o legado deixado por ela na poesia contemporânea, aqui representada por Conceição Lima, quando são analisados poemas de suas obras O útero da casa, A dolorosa raiz do Micondó e O País de Akendenguê. A fundamentação teórica está baseada nos estudos de Inocência Mata, Gaston Bachelard, Maurice Hallbwachs e Paul Ricouer. Nos diferentes poemas onde se encontra a representação feminina, é possível encontrar o uso da memória e do espaço natal do sujeito poético, que trazem, além do intimismo, o compromisso político e social com seu povo. Alda Espírito Santo e depois Conceição Lima assumem o papel de porta-voz do povo santomense e carregam, em suas poesias, o compromisso de, mesmo em épocas diferentes, estarem na linha de frente, quando alertam o povo e acordam as “consciências adormecidas” do povo santomense. O trabalho, portanto, traz em suas análises e em sua contextualização histórica, uma pesquisa que demonstra a importância do papel da Literatura como instrumento de conscientização política e social em São Tomé e Príncipe. Traz também, por meio da observância do legado seguido por Conceição Lima, o sentimento de sentinela vigilante que sua poesia propõe, mantendo, até os dias atuais, a resistência feminina no arquipélago africano e em toda África.

This dissertation aims to analyze female resistance from the poetic production of Alda Espírito Santo, a poet from the African archipelago of São Tomé and Príncipe. In order to do this, a historical contextualization and analysis of selected poems of the work É Nosso o Solo Sagrado da Terra – poesia de Protesto e Luta, in which the poet highlights the historical questions of her people in an attempt to awaken them to the need for liberation of the colonial rule are presented. That is, the feminine representation used by Alda Espírito Santo in her poetic subject, brings as a characteristic the resistance and the convocation of the African people. The study also includes her legacy to contemporary poetry, represented in this dissertation by Conceição Lima with the analysis of poems from O útero da casa, A dolorosa raiz do Micondó and O País de Akendenguê. The theoretical framework is based on the studies of Inocência Mata, Gaston Bachelard, Maurice Hallbwachs and Paul Ricouer. In the various poems in which the female representation is found, it is possible to find the use of memory and hometown of the poetic subject, which brings in addition to intimacy, the political and social commitment to its people. Alda Espírito Santo and later Conceição Lima assume the role of spokepeople for the people of São Tomé and carry in their poetry the commitment that, even at different times, they are on the front line when they alert the people and waken the "sleeping consciences" of the people of São Tomé. Therefore, the study presents in its analysis and historical contextualization, a research that demonstrates the impoance of the role of Literature as an instrument of political and social awareness in São Tomé and Príncipe. Through the observance of the legacy followed by Conceição Lima, she also brings the feeling of vigilant sentinel that her poetry proposes, maintaining until now, the feminine resistance in the African archipelago and throughout Africa.
