A potencialidade da teoria da linguagem benvenistiana para o estudo da relação língua-indivíduo-sociedade : o caso dos estrangeirismos no português brasileiro contemporâneo

Abstract

Este estudo, à luz da Teoria da Linguagem de Émile Benveniste, ob-jetiva investigar um fenômeno de linguagem no português brasileiro contem-porâneo: a incorporação de estrangeirismos no meio jornalístico digital, espe-cificamente, a incorporação da expressão fake news. Para tanto, exploram-se as relações entre língua, indivíduo e sociedade a partir dos pares conceituais enun-ciação-discurso, forma-sentido, sintagmatização-semantização e língua-socie-dade, integrantes da reflexão benvenistiana, com base nos quais se analisam, em seguida, manchetes que contêm a expressão fake news, publicadas em 2017, 2018 e 2019, nos jornais digitais Folha de S. Paulo e GaúchaZH. O exame dos recortes enunciativos revela movimentos discursivos que denunciam que o lexe-ma carrega o valor que tem enquanto signo na língua e na sociedade de origem, mas é preenchido por outros sentidos ao se sintagmatizar no discurso com as formas da língua de chegada, interpretante de outra sociedade. Nesse movimento de incorporação do estrangeirismo, o léxico da língua de chegada expande-se e possibilita novos agenciamentos sintagmáticos.

This study, based on Émile Benveniste’s Theory of Language, aims at investigating a language phenomenon in the context of contemporary Bra-zilian Portuguese: the incorporation of loanwords in digital newspapers, more specifically, the incorporation of the expression fake news. To achieve this, the paper explores the relations between language, individuals and society from the conceptual pairs enunciation-discourse, form-meaning, sintagmatization-seman-tization and language-society, which integrate Benveniste’s theoretical postu-lations and from which this study analyzes newspaper headlines that contain the expression fake news, published in 2017, 2018 and 2019, in the following newspapers: Folha de S. Paulo and GaúchaZH. The examination of these enun-ciative clippings discloses discursive movements that highlight that this lexeme has a value as a sign in its language and society of origin, but it is filled by other meanings when it is syntagmatized in discourse through the forms of the target language, serving as interpreter of another society. In this movement of incorpo-ration of this loanword, the lexicon of the target language enlarges and triggers new syntagmatic agencies.
