O impacto da produção intelectual do PPGCOM-UFRGS disponível no Lume : uma análise das citações recebidas pelas teses e dissertações defendidas entre 1998 e 2017

Abstract

A pesquisa apresenta uma análise das citações recebidas pelas teses e dissertações do Programa de Pós-graduação em Comunicação e Informação (PPGCOM) da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) defendidas entre os anos de 1998 a 2017 e depositadas no Lume - Repositório Digital da UFRGS. O objetivo da pesquisa foi verificar o impacto, na comunidade científica, da produção intelectual do PPGCOM-UFRGS disponível em um repositório institucional de acesso aberto. O referencial teórico abordado para dar embasamento ao estudo têm entre os seus temas: comunicação científica, acesso aberto, repositórios institucionais, análise de citações e o Google Scholar como ferramenta para a análise de citações. O instrumento para a coleta dos dados de citações dos trabalhos foi o software Publish or Perish. A base de dados selecionada foi o Google Scholar. O tratamento dos dados foi realizado por meio do Google Sheets. A pesquisa identificou 339 trabalhos do PPGCOM depositados no Lume. O total de citações recebidas pelos trabalhos e analisados na pesquisa é de 1.484. Foram identificados 35 trabalhos com mais de 10 citações. Com esse dado realizamos o recorte para analisar os documentos citantes e assim verificar o impacto do PPGCOM na comunidade científica. Nos 35 trabalhos com mais de 10 citações recuperamos um total de 840 citações. Analisamos o tipo de documento citante, o idioma de publicação e o país de publicação das 840 citações. Concluímos que as teses e dissertações do PPGCOM depositadas no Lume alcançam, principalmente, a comunidade científica nacional. Os dados obtidos também sugerem uma pequena internacionalização da produção intelectual do PPGCOM.

The research presents an analysis of the citations received for the theses and dissertations of the Postgraduate Program in Communication and Information (PPGCOM) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) defended between the years 1998 to 2017 and deposited in Lume - Repository UFRGS Digital. The objective of the research was to verify the impact, in the scientific community, of the intellectual production of PPGCOM-UFRGS available in an institutional repository of open access. The theoretical framework approached to support the study has among its themes: scientific communication, open access, institutional repositories, analysis of citations and Google Scholar as a tool for the analysis of citations. The instrument for collecting the data of citations of the works was the Publish or Perish software. The selected database was Google Scholar. Data processing was performed using Google Sheets. The research identified 339 PPGCOM works deposited at Lume. The total number of citations received by the papers and analyzed in the research is 1.484. 35 papers were identified with more than 10 citations. With this data, we performed the clipping to analyze the citing documents and thus verify the impact of PPGCOM on the scientific community. In the 35 works with more than 10 citations, we recovered a total of 840 citations. We analyzed the type of citing document, the language of publication and the country of publication of the 840 citations. We conclude that PPGCOM's theses and dissertations deposited at Lume reach mainly the national scientific community. The data obtained also suggest a small internationalization of PPGCOM's intellectual production.
