Mulheres matemáticas brasileiras : conversas sobre desafios na carreira profissional

Abstract

O trabalho tem como motivação o estudo sobre as mulheres matemáticas brasileiras, de modo a entender se existe discriminação de gênero, se sofrem preconceito por serem mulheres, saber das suas contribuições para a matemática. Desejando responder as perguntas: atualmente existe reconhecimento e valorização das mulheres matemáticas? Quais as dificuldades enfrentadas por elas? Foram coletados depoimentos de mulheres matemáticas que atuam na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, durante os meses de março e abril de 2021. Conforme os relatos, as entrevistadas percebem que com o passar do tempo estão ganhando mais destaque na área e valorização na carreira, luta-se para uma mudança em relação à desigualdade de gênero. Ainda hoje observa-se que existe uma disparidade entre homens e mulheres nas condições de estudo e de trabalho, sendo observados olhares de desconfiança, falta de credibilidade por ser mulher, falta de tempo para a realização das tarefas e queda da produtividade principalmente no período da maternidade.

The work consists of a research on Brazilian mathematical women, in order to understand whether there is gender discrimination, whether they suffer prejudice for being women, to know their contributions to mathematics. Wishing to answer the questions, is there currently recognition and appreciation of women mathematicians? What difficulties did they face? Testimonies were collected from women mathematicians, who work at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, during the months of March and April 2021. Women are occupying more and more prominent places within society and areas capable as men to develop their skills. Same functions and have the same wage remuneration, through the interviews we can see examples of this change. Your intellectual capacity has nothing to do with sex. We had great contributions in mathematics and also in the rights of these women warriors Who did not bow their heads in the face of difficulties and prejudices. According to reports of the interviews, the interviewees realized that, over time, they are gaining more highlights in the area and appreciation in their careers, fighting for a change in the issue of gender inequality.
