A história de uma grande invenção : intertextualidade presente no conde de sanduíche

Abstract

O presente trabalho tem por objetivo analisar como o conceito de intertextualidade mostra-se um fator importante na leitura de um texto e como ele é responsável, entre tantos fatores, pela coerência textual. A seguir, destaca-se a importância do tradutor que, como um leitor, também precisa resgatar estes elementos ao recriar um texto. Neste trabalho, procedeu-se à análise do conto História de uma grande invenção, do cineasta e escritor norte-americano Woody Allen traduzido por Ruy Castro. A análise se deu a partir elementos microestruturais, tais como: referências literárias, artísticas, filosóficas, musicais, entre outros presentes no texto. Já a análise macroestrutural mostra como o autor se valeu do gênero textual “biografia” para compor um conto de fundo cômico, o que também precisa ser considerado na leitura e na tradução. A partir do conceito de intertextualidade de Carvalhal (2003), Nitrini (1997) e Reuillard (1992) e também de coesão textual a partir dos autores Fávero (2007) e Lopes (1998), procurou-se traçar um esquema que abordasse a evolução do conceito de intertextualidade e sua influência para os estudos literários. Foi explorado também o conceito daqueles elementos considerados como conhecimento de mundo e sua importância como fatores de remissão extratextual, importantes para a compreensão do texto. Por fim, o trabalho, baseado no conceito de intertextualidade de Carvalhal (2003), sugere que o texto é constituído por um mosaico de outros textos e informações que o enriquecem e necessitam ser resgatados pelo leitor e pelo tradutor do texto para sua compreensão.

The present work aims to analyze how the concept of intertextuality is an important factor when reading a text and how it is responsible, among other factors, to ensure textual coherence. Then, we point out the importance of the translator as a reader, who also needs to recover some elements when recreating a text. In this work, we have proceeded with the analysis of Woody Allen's short story Historia de Uma Grande Invenção, translated by Ruy Castro from the original Yes, But Can the Steam Engine Do This?. We analyzed microestructural elements such as: literary, artistical, philopsophycal, musical references among others in the text; and the macroestructural analysis shows how the author used a “biography” genre to compose a comic short story - which also needs to be considered when reading and translating a text. We tried tó trace a schema approaching intertextuality concept evolution and its influence to the Literary Studies based on the ideas from Tania Carvalhal (2003), Sandra Nitrini (1997) and Reuillard (1992) and textual coherence concepts from Favero (2007) and Lopes (1998). We provide an exploration of the element concepts which are considered world knowledge and their importance as extratextual remissive factors — which are meaningful to the text comprehension. At last, this work based on the intertextuality concept of Carvalhal (2003) suggests that a text is constituted by a mosaic built by other texts and information which enrich it, and they need to be captured by the reader and the translator for its comprehension.
