Aprendizagem e consciência social na universidade

Abstract

Este estudo visa compreender os significados individuais e sociais das aprendizagens (Planos da Metacognição e da Consciência Intencionada), que os estudantes fazem na Universidade, as dimensões de sua politização havidas no processo e os mecanismos de produção (e/ou reprodução) de sua consciência politica e social (Plano da Consciência Politica e Social). Numa primeira etapa, foram inventariadas as abordagens de estudo e os estilos de aprendizagem, utilizando-se uma versão adaptada do Inventário de Abordagens de Estudo (Entwistle,1979). Foram informantes 235 estudantes de ambos os sexos, intencionalmente escolhidos, matriculados nos cursos de Medicina, Engenharia, Letras, Fisica, Pedagogia e Enfermagem da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Na segunda etapa, dois anos após, 24 estudantes, quatro de cada curso, que reproduziam os critérios de escolha da amostra original responderam a uma entrevista semi-estruturada. Mais tarde, estes mesmos estudantes, na qualidade de "check members", discutiram as análises feitas. Verificou-se que, no nivel da Metacognição, quatro Orientações preferenciais de Estudo são manifestadas pelos estudantes da UFRGS: Superficial, Significado, Reprodução e Profissionalização. Estas Orientações de Estudo ocorrem juntas, com diferentes ênfases e tendem a permanecer. No nivel da Consciência Intencionada constatou-se que, ao ingressarem em seus cursos, os estudantes se consideram interessados em aprender. Ao longo do tempo porém, apenas alguns conseguem estabelecer significados, reconhecendo o conhecimento existente e elaborando representações compartilhadas que favorecem a construçãdoe uma identidade social como estudante universitário. A origem de classe social impregna as representações e permite identificar diferentes valorações dadas à Universidade nas suas relações com a sociedade: desde a visão burguesa de que a Universidade deve produzir mercadoria para a sociedade até a. posição de "opção de classe", que vê a juventude como potencial revolucionário e a necessidade de superação do sistema e de formação de uma consciência politica. Em nível da Consciência Politica e Social, diferentes dimensões de politização foram encontradas. As diferenças guardam relação com as aprendizagens que se configuram no espaço da Universidade, embora nem sempre tenham sido por ela propiciadas. Na verdade, a vinculação /desvinculação de classe e as aprendizagens significativas, que desmascaram as representações ideologizadas e reabastecem a cadeia de construção do conhecimento, via assunção de uma ação politica confirmada com a realidade, parecem ser fatores que melhor explicam a produção da consciência politica e social do estudante.

The main intention of this study was to understand the social and individual learnings meanings' of University students; (Metacognition and Intentional Consciousness Plans) the politicization dimensions of the process and the production(re) mechanisms of their political and social consciousness (Political and Social Conscilouaalas Plan). In a first stage, approaches to studying and learning styles were brought into an adapted version of Approaches to Studying Inventory (Entwistle,1979). Two hundred and thirty five, male and female, students enrolled in intentionally choosen courses of Medicine, Engineering, Linguistics, Physics, Pedagogy and Nursery of the Federal University of Rio Grande do sul, were invited to be participants. In a second stage, two vyears later, twenty four students, which reproduced the same criteria of the intentional choosen sample, four from each course, answered a semi-structured interview. At the end, these students, in the quality of check members, discussed the main results. At the Metacognition Plan, UFRGS students present four preferencial learning Orientations to Study named Superficial, Meaning, Reprodúctive and Professional. These Orientations come together, but with different emphasis, and tend to remain during the courses. At the Intentional Conciousness Plan it was verified that students are interested in learning when they enter the University. During the time, however, only a few students reach learning meaning, recognizing existing Knowledge and making shared representations which favour the construction of a social identity as a University student. The social class origin of the “students seems to impregnate their representations and permits the identification of diverse valuations given to the University - society relation: since the bourgeois vision of a university producing goods to society till the class "option" position that sees youth as a revolutionary potential and the need of beating the system and forming a political consciousness. At the Social and Political plan, students present different levels of politicization. These differences are related to learnings ocurred in the University space but not exactly by it provided. In fact the vinculation/devinculation of social class, the meaningfull learnings that unmask ideologicized representations and provide the knowledge chain construction, by a political action confirmed with reality, seems to be the better explanative factor for the political and social consciousness production.
