dc.description.abstractThe pulverized, molten or solubilized, rosin from Pinus elliotti was disproportionated by using S, NaI, S and I₂ or Pd/C as catalysts. The disproportionated rosin was saponified in aqueous or alcoholic KOH solutions. The quality control of the resulting soaps revealed the disproportionation in the presence of Pd/C and of S and l₂ yields potassium abietate and dehydroabietate ratio in accordance to the industrial specifications, thus being adequate for use as emulsifiers.en
