Análise da atenção odontológica aos estudantes em situação de vulnerabilidade social da UFRGS

Abstract

A mudança no perfil socioeconômico dos alunos da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul traz consigo grandes desafios no combate aos agravos à saúde dessa população. As questões relacionadas à saúde, em principal as questões de saúde bucal influenciam no bem estar físico, social e de progresso do estudante dentro da universidade. Embora a universidade esteja sendo mais inclusiva, muito pouco se sabe sobre a saúde bucal desses estudantes e dos agravos que mais os acometem. Além disso, são escassos os levantamentos feitos para atender as necessidades de acordo com o perfil de saúde bucal desses estudantes que moram na cidade de Porto Alegre. O objetivo deste estudo é identificar a relação entre o número de alunos atendidos pelo projeto e as suas demandas em relação à saúde bucal, a fim de avaliar a necessidade de expandir as dimensões do Projeto. Além disso, analisar as características epidemiológicas desta população atendida. No que diz respeito aos resultados, ficou evidente constatar que o perfil dos pacientes que utilizam os serviços são em sua maioria do sexo feminino com média de idade de 30 anos. A proporção de pacientes classificados como doentes devido a cárie e/ou doença periodontal foi de 41,11%, enquanto a proporção de pacientes não doentes foi de 58,89%. Os molares foram os dentes mais afetados pela cárie, representando 69% da amostra. Os procedimentos mais comuns realizados na clínica foram às RAP (Raspagem e Alisamento Radicular). As áreas que mais exigiram suporte durante os atendimentos foram a periodontia, representando 38,16%, e a Cariologia/Dentística, com 26,90%. Um total de 37,67% da amostra de pacientes passaram para a manutenção periódica preventiva. Em relação ao questionário de satisfação, obteve-se uma taxa de resposta de 51%. Conclui- se que os resultados revelaram uma realidade de desigualdades sociais em relação à saúde bucal, que se evidenciam nos levantamentos de dados e o projeto desempenha um papel significativo tanto para os alunos/pacientes atendidos quanto para os alunos que realizam os atendimentos.

The change in the socioeconomic profile of students at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul brings significant challenges in addressing the health issues of this population. Health-related issues, particularly oral health, influence the physical, social, and academic well-being of students within the university. Despite the university's increasing inclusivity, very little is known about the oral health of these students and the most prevalent oral health problems they face. Additionally, there is a lack of comprehensive surveys conducted to meet the oral health needs specific to the profile of these students residing in the city of Porto Alegre. The objective of this study is to identify the relationship between the number of students served by the project and their oral health demands to evaluate the need for expanding the dimensions of the Project. Furthermore, it aims to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of this population receiving care. Regarding the results, it was evident that the majority of patients utilizing the services were female, with an average age of 30 years. The proportion of patients classified as having dental caries and/or periodontal disease was 41.11%, while the proportion of non-diseased patients was 58.89%. Molars were the teeth most affected by dental caries, accounting for 69% of the sample. The most common procedures performed in the clinic were Root Planing and Scaling (RAP). The areas that required the most support during treatments were periodontics, representing 38.16%, and Cariology/Restorative Dentistry, with 26.90%. A total of 37.67% of the patient sample transitioned to preventive periodic maintenance. Regarding the satisfaction questionnaire, a response rate of 51% was obtained. Overall, these findings highlight the need to address the oral health needs of the student population and consider expanding the dimensions of the Project to better serve them. It is concluded that the results revealed a reality of social inequalities regarding oral health, which are evident in data surveys, and the project plays a significant role for both the students/patients receiving care and the students providing the services.
