Fabio Morais e a autorreflexividade nas publicações do artista

Abstract

A presente monografia tem como objeto de pesquisa as publicações do artista escritor Fabio Morais (São Paulo, 1975–), com o propósito de examinar o uso da autorreflexividade, isto é, a obra como reflexão sobre si mesma, em sua escrita em Artes Visuais. Seu trabalho com a escrita tem como foco principal a plasticidade e a espacialidade da linguagem, de modo que o artista enfatiza o aspecto material desta. Ao mesmo tempo, dirige o olhar a seu próprio fazer artístico, interrogando-se acerca de seu trabalho como artista que atua entre dois campos: o expositivo e o editorial, além de refletir criticamente sobre o sistema de arte e questionar as narrativas oficiais da História da Arte no contexto brasileiro. Para Morais, publicar arte no Brasil é um ato de resistência. Para contextualizar a produção do artista, a pesquisa foi estruturada em três capítulos: desmaterialização do objeto de arte; materialização do livro; e Fabio Morais: materialização da linguagem.

The present work focuses on the publications of the artist-writer Fabio Morais (São Paulo, 1975–), seeking to examine the use of self-reflexivity, that is, the work as a reflection on itself, in his writing within the field of Visual Arts. His work in writing primarily emphasizes the plasticity and spatiality of language, highlighting its material aspect. At the same time, he turns his gaze toward his own artistic practice, questioning his role as an artist operating between two spheres: the exhibition space and the editorial world. Additionally, he critically reflects on the art system and challenges the official narratives of Art History within the Brazilian context. For Morais, publishing art in Brazil is an act of resistance. To contextualize the artist's production, the research was structured into three chapters: dematerialization of the art object; materialization of the book; and Fabio Morais: materialization of language.
