Releituras vitruvianas no século XVI : a autoridade dos antigos e a consolidação da nova arquitetura

Abstract

O texto aborda a trajetória do tratado de Vitrúvio, De Architectura, escrito no século I a.C., através dos séculos seguintes até sua ampla difusão e diversidade de releituras no século XVI, quando ganha suas versões impressas, ilustradas, comentadas e traduzidas. Procura-se demonstrar o papel importante desse processo de releitura na consolidação de uma arquitetura nova, o qual contou com uma rede de intelectuais e artistas envolvidos na sua compreensão, e que resultou na construção de um campo disciplinar próprio da arquitetura, alinhado ao seu tempo, apoiado por distintas interpretações do texto vitruviano. Para tal, retoma-se a trajetória da difusão e publicação do tratado, assim como da rede constituída para este fim, a qual envolveu uma diversidade grande de estudiosos, chegando à publicação dos tratados novos de arquitetura.

The text addresses the trajectory of Vitruvius' treatise, De Architectura, written in the 1st century BC, through the following centuries until its wide dissemination and diversity of reinterpretations in the 16th century, when it gained its printed, illustrated, commented and translated versions. It is seeked to demonstrate the important role of this process of reinterpretation in the consolidation of a new architecture, which had a network of intellectuals and artists involved in its understanding, and which resulted in the construction of a disciplinary field of architecture, aligned with its time, supported by different interpretations of the Vitruvian text. To this end, the trajectory of the dissemination and publication of the treatise is resumed, as well as the network created for this purpose, which involved a great diversity of scholars, leading to the publication of new architectural treatises.
