This research aims to promote reflections that reframe imagination in the act of reading, considering it an exercise in freedom, which predisposes the individual to be in the written language through reading. For this purpose, through exploratory and qualitative research, I first described the context from which my questions about imagination arose, leading me to analyze Gaston Bachelard’s theory of imagination. With that, I seek to show how the aforementioned concepts can be related to reading practices, providing support for thinking about the role of imagination in bringing readers and books closer together. Then, based on these theoretical concepts, I discussed how mediated reading practices have the potential to contribute to the function of the creative imagination. Therefore, I analyzed the methodology used in these practices, narratives that permeated them, and their repercussions. In this way, it was possible to point out how these practices contribute to guaranteeing time and space for reading literature and to measure the importance of systematizing its continuities. Finally, I analyzed the relevance of the creative imagination in the willingness to read literature, where I point out that the act of reading does not present a necessary equivalence with the fact that the reader recognizes themself as an imagining subject, which implies the desire to read and the development of a taste for reading. The developments of the analysis carried out focus on the elements necessary for the function of imagining, such as poetics, literary image, daydreaming and creation, also highlighting the role of the reader in this context. ...
